Insidiously
appealing, the Cadillac Escalade EXTm takes the color black to a new level.
Finished in Ebony Diamond paint with black chrome exterior accents and
armed with an all-black interior, Escalade EXTm delivers a look that is
both powerful and luxurious.
"Escalade
EXTm with its premium content gives affluent, high tech-savvy buyers a
limited edition vehicle that's unlike anything else in the world,"
said Susan Docherty, Escalade marketing director. A pure concept exercise,
the Escalade EXTm makes its first appearance at the 2002 Special Equipment
Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas.
The Escalade
EXTm is based on the 2003 Cadillac Escalade EXT, a sport-utility truck
that boldly combines elements of a luxury SUV and pickup truck. The Escalade
EXTm, however, goes a step further by anticipating what drivers would
expect from a luxury vehicle in the future - including inspiration from
the Cadillac Escalade EXT to be seen in the movie, "The Matrix Reloaded."
The Escalade
EXTm boasts interior and exterior upgrades. For the first time, Cadillac
has outfitted an Escalade EXT with an all-black interior that features
the bathed-in-luxury look and feel of ebony leather. The seat leather
is embellished with bright ebony leather piping. The headliner is ebony
Alcantara. The engine-turned metal console and instrument panel trim is
a contemporary interpretation of a classic design.
The deep-tinted
windows of the EXTm reserve views of the interior for those inside, with
the exterior view a vision for public consumption. The Cadillac Escalade
signature grille and headlamp surrounds have been black-chromed for a
distinguished look. The lower exterior trim features an EXTm badge. Black
chrome 22-inch ASA TRS II wheels with Pirelli V-rated performance tires
create the perfect pedestal upon which to mount this sinister vehicle.
The EXTm
also boasts several components to satisfy technophiles. A power tonneau
cover and power-release tailgate with gas strut and torsion spring assist
allow easy access to the rear cargo area. A sliding load floor, which
will be available as a GM Accessory next year, handles cargo management.
A Bose premium music system with a six-disc CD changer and XM Satellite
Radio plays through seven strategically placed speakers. Rear seat passengers
can view their favorite DVDs or connect a video game console to the rear-seat
entertainment system's 7-inch screen. Finally, there will never be a need
to ask for directions with the DVD-based navigation system on board.
Powering
the EXTm is a supercharged and intercooled Vortec 6.0-liter V-8 pumping
out over 500 horsepower and 500-plus lbs.-ft. of torque. Exhaust exits
through a Corsa performance exhaust tip. Shifting duties are handled by
a GM 4L60-E heavy-duty four-speed automatic transmission, and power is
distributed through a full-time all-wheel drive system
