GMC TAKES THE WORK/FAMILY TRUCK TO A HIGHER POWER WITH THE SIERRA CX CREW

DETROIT – These days, many truck owners want a dual purpose vehicle – one which offers a high degree of capability but can also handle family hauling and vacation duty on the weekends without feeling truck-like. The Sierra CX Crew satisfies these needs and more by combining the upscale attributes of the Sierra C3 with the enhanced interior room of the Sierra 1500 Series Crew Cab.

The CX is a workstation on wheels for the busy professional that converts to a four passenger stylish cruiser on the weekend. But whether for weekday work or weekend play, this concept crew delivers the ultimate in on-road performance and control while adding the ultimate in comfort, convenience and flexibility.

This vehicle is for the working professional who demands high quality and durability. The interior was designed to reflect the exterior components, with metallic accent trim plates and extra rows of stitching through seat inserts made of highly durable work grade canvas, that adds to the rugged image. Also, the metallic accented piping provides the look of high quality and upscale precision.

The CX’s interior is equipped with a mobile office module that contains a laptop computer, printer, storage for paper or other items, and a detachable briefcase for the laptop and printer. A rear seat console entertainment center comes equipped with a Sega Dreamcast game station, DVD player, wireless transmission to visor screens. The entertainment center is trimmed to match the interior design.

The Delphi headliner mounted visor system can receive infrared inputs from DVD, Games or other inputs from the Rear Center Console Entertainment Center. This application demonstrates entertainment for front and rear passengers and navigation viewing for the front passenger, and rear camera system for the driver. The overhead approach is, from a human factor standpoint, an optimal solution to minimize the potential motion sickness.

A modular rear seating system is at the heart of the interior amenities. In its passenger configuration there are two captain’s chairs flanking a multi-functional center console. The console houses an entertainment center that feeds two AML CD screens that pop out of headliner-mounted visors. From a work perspective, the seats can be easily removed to install an "Office Module" incorporating a lap top computer docking station, intermediate drawer housed printer station plus filing/storage space.

Not to leave the operator and forward passenger wanting, a front cockpit system with hot/cold cup holders and sun visors with AML CD screens. A rear visioning system with a Panasonic color video camera transmits its views to the driver’s visor while the passenger’s is utilized for the on-board navigation system. The OnStar activation button is integrated into an electrochromatic rear view mirror that also houses an outside temperature gauge and compass.

Auto Trim and also includes a Homelink universal garage door opening system that eases home entry. Professional grade floor mats maintain a clean living area within the CX.

For the exterior there’s deep, rich PPG Liquid Metal Argentanium dark blue paint. This hue carries over onto the Stillen body side wheel flares and Power Vision power adjustable and extendable exterior rear view mirrors that include a signaling feature by Gentex.

A powered, self-storing roll top hard tonneau cover by Specialty Covers is operated via an IP- mounted switch. PUTCO tubular stainless steel running boards with step pads aid ingress and egress. In the rear, the DMI Quic’n Easy receiver hitch makes for one-person hook ups and its unique spring helps neutralize jerking starts and stops. The exterior treatment is rounded out with "ULTRA" high-polished 17" X 7.5" aluminum wheels.

To top all this content off, the CX is more powerful than greased-lightning. Its 6.0 liter is fitted with a Magnuson Supercharger kit that brings total output to an astounding 400 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. This GMC truck will launch with thunder and be gone quicker than a flash. The limited-slip differential contributes here, too. And, for ultimate control, Delphi’s Quadra Steer all-wheel steering system is great for quick, expert lane changes on the highway and makes turning corners a breeze.
